EDDIE'S MATES COMMITTEE
Eddie's Mates came together in 2006 to ensure our annual fundraising dinners were a success and to enable us to undertake a major building project - a multipurpose building. Eddie's Mates is made up of a group of business men, parents, a Board member and staff.
Four of the mates have no direct connection to the school, other than an interest in supporting a worthwhile cause. Phil McCarroll, who has had a long term commitment to charity support and who chairs a number of charitable foundations, was instrumental in setting up the group. The group have not only given their time with such enthusiasm and humour, they have made sure we have the community support necessary to support vital fundraising.
Eddie's Big Night Out 2007 was the inaugural Mates fundraiser and the launch of aptly named Eddie's Mates - bringing together the creative talents, energies and commitment of our fundraising team. There have been many months of planning; meetings that always achieved a good balance between business and fun, networking with the local business sector and harnessing school networks, including parents and staff.
Eddie's Mates have either personally or through their contacts, provided direct financial assistance or goods and services to support our fundraising events. The energies of this remarkable team have ensured EBNO 2007 and 2008 were two amazing nights and that our dream of improving our facilities became a reality. Our building program is underway.
What is wonderful is that their commitment will go beyond this year - they have made a long term commitment to St. Edmund's. Their aim is to see the gym built!
