Music

drum lesson An appreciation and love of music is one of the best gifts we can pass on to our students. Music touches a part of our soul that cannot be reached in any other way and allows us to express great joy.

At St Edmund's we offer only a Life Skills program of study for Years 7-10. Years 7 and 8 have two music lessons a week for the whole year and Years 9-12 have two lessons a week of music for their fourth term as part of the Creative Arts program. The lessons are very practical and group orientated. We do rhythm activities using drums, xylophones, glockenspiels, keyboards and percussion instruments. Singing solo using the microphone or singing songs as a group is encouraged.

Students are exposed to the diversity of sound and experiences of different music genres. Students are encouraged to share their favourite music with the class by performing in front of their peers.
