Future Pathways - Social Skills

The Social Skills program includes delivery of TalkAbout, which also forms part of a school-wide program. TalkAbout is delivered in a small group setting and is a research-based program designed to improve the social skills of teenagers with disability.

Within the Social Skills program, students are given an opportunity to develop their organisational skills, working independently to chose and coordinate a social activity, for example a train trip to a shopping centre to shop and have lunch. Students are encouraged to plan each detail, such as train timetables and money, and present their idea to the class.

Students are then given an opportunity to generalise the skills learned in TalkAbout by undertaking their peers' social activities.
